On-site inspection and quality control of the GNL terminals in Bilbao and Santander ports
|
OCA Global has carried out, in 2021 and 2022, inspections, legalization, Quality Control and Non-Destructive Testing,
during the construction and commissioning of the Storage Terminals and supply Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to vessels
in the Port of Bilbao.
Repsol has carried out a new supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to a ship in the port of Bilbao, from where it will be supplied to Brittany Ferries ships, called Salamanca and Santoña, which will come into operation in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The construction of this terminal is part of the long-term collaboration agreement signed in 2019 between Repsol and Brittany Ferries for the supply of LNG in their operations in Spain. The facility is scheduled to be commissioned in the first half of 2022. The port of Bilbao is a reference in the gas market. It handles around 3.8 million tonnes of natural gas per year, making it the leading LNG port in Spain.
After the completion of the works at the Port of Bilbao, the OCA Global team will travel to the Santander port, replicating
the installation carried out and contributing, in the same way as in Bilbao, to its green transformation, with the build-out of
LNG bunkering stations for ferries. This is the first step for the new configuration of the area, thus freeing up the Maritime
Station that will be dedicated exclusively to cruise ships.
This is a great challenge for OCA Global, in which our company contributes with the great experience of our engineers
and technicians in the inspection of equipment and facilities, within the metal mechanics, and Non-Destructive Testing, in
the environment, this time, of high-tech cryogenic equipment and with the aim of contributing to energy transition.
